Join the coolest Buying department (yes, we really are 😎) and help us develop and deliver yarn for all yarn lovers all over the world 🧶✨.
We're looking for an experienced Buyer to join our passionate team at Hobbii - Europe’s leading online yarn retailer🌍. You’ll play a vital role in keeping our shelves stocked, our gross margins healthy, and our global community of knitters and crocheters inspired. Your work will directly impact their ability to create, share, and enjoy their craft – and that’s something we’re incredibly proud of ❤️.
With us, you're not just another cog in the machine - you'll be a key player in shaping our supply chain processes, driving commercial growth, and helping us grow smarter, better, and faster🚀. So reach out to us if you’re ready to take on new challenges and want to be part of our exciting journey. Your expertise will drive our success, and you'll have the opportunity to grow alongside a dedicated and supportive team.
Our fun and passionate Product & Procurement team
Your colleagues are incredibly friendly and come from all over the world, so expect a high level of diversity and cultural richness. Lunch conversations range from weddings in India to politics in Canada and camping tips for exploring Denmark. The team is a talented group of people from different backgrounds - from Product Development and Procurement to Graphic Design, Planning and Logistics. We thrive on teamwork, sharing ideas, and combining our strengths to drive real results 🎯.
Who's got your back
You’ll report to our Buying Manager, a seasoned expert in sourcing, procurement, and negotiation. She’s the kind of manager who will challenge you, support your development, and celebrate your wins - big or small - with genuine excitement 🎉.
Together with our Category Manager, you'll be the strategic engine room: deciding what we sell and at what price, ensuring how it gets here, guaranteeing perfect quality ⭐, and making sure our data remains the source of truth for the rest of the company.
Your role
As our new Buyer, you'll drive commercial growth and profitability through strategic assortment development, global sourcing, and high-level negotiations. You'll ensure Hobbii offers the right products at competitive prices at the right time. You’ll take full category ownership alongside the Product Developer and Category Manager, serving as the company’s "eyes and ears" to keep Hobbii at the forefront of new materials, colour trends, and sustainability standards. You ask the right questions, make well-informed calls, take ownership, and get things done💥.
What you’ll be doing
Sourcing & Negotiation
Lead global sourcing initiatives and maintain strategic, long-term supplier relationships across Europe, Asia, and Türkiye through online meetings, trade fairs, and supplier visits.
Conduct annual contract negotiations, price benchmarking, and optimize payment terms and Minimum Order Quantities to directly improve Hobbii’s gross margin and cash flow.
Perform regular supplier performance reviews to ensure compliance with Hobbii’s quality standards ⭐ and sustainability goals 🌿.
Range & Assortment Management
Curate colour palettes and yarn qualities based on data-driven insights and seasonal trends together with Product Development and the Category Manager.
Manage our "In/Out" strategy (deciding which products to launch, promote, or phase out) and build clear product roles and tiers within the category range.
Keep a close eye on competitors to keep our prices right and competitive.
Manage the product lifecycle, balancing inventory turnover with high availability to ensure portfolio health.
Cross-Functional Strategy
Work closely with the Product Operations Coordinator to translate strategic decisions into accurate data within the Pipeline document.
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across Finance, Warehouse, Tech and Commercial teams.
About you
Buying experience, working directly with suppliers
Strong negotiation and external/internal stakeholder management skills
Analytical, structured, and confident with numbers
Proficient in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas)
Fluent in English, spoken and written
Ability to travel - approximately 10-15 travel days per year, primarily within and outside Europe, to visit suppliers and yarn fairs
The "Hobster" Spirit: A proactive, energetic, and "no-task-too-small" mindset that prioritizes team success over a rigid job description.
Passion for Knitting and/or Crocheting (A Big Plus): If you personally nerd out on yarn, stitch patterns, or craft trends and understand our end users' needs, that's a huge advantage! 🧶✨
